About this event
December 4th's Movie: Support Your Local Gunfighter (1971)
Brrrrr..... the cold weather really snuck in this past week. Most of the hands here at the ranch are holed up in the bunkhouse feeding wood into the wood stove and working on little projects. They are repairing bridles, lariats, saddles, performing maintenance on their Winchesters and Colts. Occasionally they ride out to break up the ice on the stock tanks so the cattle can drink. Another opportunity to get out of the smoke filled bunk house and out into public comes Wednesday evening, December 4th at 6 PM when the movie, "Support Your Local Gunfighter" will be playing at the Sunny Ridge Theater. Snacks and beverages are provided. Break out the long johns and mackinaws and venture over to Sunny Ridge.
Keep in mind that "gunfighter" doesn't mean "outlaw." In this movie, a clever con-man takes advantage of a situation in another Colorado mining town that is out-of-control lawless. Even a sheriff can't keep the law. What the town needs is a good gunfighter. Latigo Smith (James Garner) sees this as an opportunity to make a quick buck. He teams up with retrobate cowhand (Jack Elam) to execute a plan. Latigo falls for the pistol packing daughter (Suzanne Pleshette) of the the local mining baron, Taylor Barton (Harry Morgan) and the plan is not a sure thing.
Released in 1971, running time is 93 minutes and is good for some interesting action as well as a few laughs. Please join the SRPC posse and the Sweetwater Regulators For this month's Cowboy Movie Night.
