100/200 YD - Buffalo Gong Shoot - 2:30PM-5PM
Results of Buffalo Rifle Gong Shoot May 15th 2021
The Buffalo Rifle Gong shoot was held at Sheboygan Rifle and Pistol Club at 2:00PM on May 15th.
There were 4 shooters and a couple bystanders who shot at steel gongs on our 200 yard range. Small group but a fun shoot. Slowly getting back to normal on the range. We will skip the September buffalo target shoot due to the PGA. I am planning on the 2 shoots to resume as normal in 2022.
The results are as follows:
Bob Wood - 9 hits (3 off hand) Browning 40-65 high wall, 365 gr. P Patch, 75.0 gr Swiss 1.5F B. powder
Joel Sundquist - 5 hits (3 off hand) 45-70 H&R 500gr. Cast bullets smokeless powder
Rick Chianelli - 4 hits (1 off hand) 45-70 high wall Black Powder.
Richard Lorenz - 4 hits (4 off hand) 11.7x51R Remington Rolling block 353 gr. Black powder
The course of fire was 10 shots off of cross sticks at 200 yards at a small steel chicken. The final 5 shots were shot off hand standing, at a larger ram steel gong. As in the past, we had a couple newer shooters and interested spectators.
There is always a rifle and ammo on hand for a new shooter to try.
The purpose of these matches is to generate interest in shooting the old buffalo period rifles. The intent is to have fun, and learn about shooting these old guns. Feel free to stop out and test fire one of these old rifles.
We guarantee you a good time.
