Greetings to all of my fellow bovine punchers.

It's good to back on the ranch. I just got back from visiting fellow cattlemen in Florida. They do have cattle ranches in Florida. They don't have coyote problems down there but the gators get a dogie or two. Getting back was an adventure with the railroad bridge across the Chatahoochy River washed out and the telegraph lines down.

When I got back I headed straight to the Broken Spur Saloon. A few of the ranch hands were sitting at a green felt covered table playing five card draw.Turkey Neck Simmons was stroking his whiskered chin then druming his fingers on the table trying to figure the odds of drawing an inside straight. Doodle the Noodle Nelson was losing his patience and said, "Turkey, you don't have the intellectual where with all to figure any odds for what you are drawing to so just play your damn hand. Then, to break the tension, Mickey Monroe asked if anybody had heard what was going on in Yellowstone City? As if on cue, the other three players looked up from their cards and a chorus of "No" mumbled forth. Then Mickey proceeds to fill them all in. It seems that a local prospector finally hit the vein he was mining for and struck it rich . To celebrate, he headed to town to celebrate. He went straight into the Black Canary Saloon and bought drinks for the house and announced his good fortune. Heading home with his head in the jar he was bushwhacked, shot in the back and relieved of his good fortune. The murder caused quite a comotion in town and the sheriff was bound and determined to get the culprit post haste. He settles on a stranger new in town, a former slave and man of color. More mysterious murders occur. The sheriff refuses to pay much attention to evidence of the stranger's innocence and is relentless in his misguided investigation.

"Hold on." pipes in the Noodle. "That sounds a lot like the theme of the movie showing at the EdenBrook basement bijou theater Wednesday night. Murder At Yellowstone City." Noodle is correct. The movie for cowboy movie night is Murder At Yellowstone City. The movie stars Gabriel Byrne, Thomas Jane, Isaiah Mustafa and Anna Camp. The 2022 release runs 127 minutes. Show time is 6 PM for those who set their clocks back, 7 PM for others. Snacks and beverages are provided free of charge out of respect for broke cowboys. Spit your chaw, wipe your feet and join us.
